The world’s largest sailing luxury cruise vessel platform—yacht-like appeal with commercial capability.
The BTY vessel as a system
Traditional cruise ships rely heavily on fossil fuels — at sea, in port, and while at anchor — resulting in a significant CO₂ footprint. BTY is redefining this model from the ground up.
For centuries, wind was the primary driving force of maritime transport. BTY brings this proven principle into the future by combining it with modern technology and intelligent energy management.
Wind is the primary propulsion source for BTY, enabling efficient and comfortable travel from A to B at competitive cruising speeds, both downwind and upwind. But BTY goes further.
Through its advanced, adjustable propellers, the vessel also generates electricity while underway. This energy powers the onboard hotel operations and charges the vessel’s battery systems, significantly reducing the need for conventional generators.
These batteries enable true zero-emission manoeuvring in ports and allow the vessel to cruise silently through pristine and protected areas in “whisper mode”. Guests can fully enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and watersports without engine noise or exhaust fumes — an experience of genuine tranquillity.
The electrically driven, variable-pitch propellers, combined with dual bow thrusters, provide exceptional dynamic positioning. Without dropping anchors, the vessel can hold its position precisely as desired — into the wind or optimally aligned with the swell to minimise motion. This not only enhances comfort but also protects fragile marine environments such as coral reefs.
While certain technical solutions are still being refined, the BTY vessel is designed with full future readiness in mind.
Alongside wind propulsion, modular generator sets support the energy system. These are compatible with diesel, HVO, methanol, and LNG, and the modular architecture allows seamless future integration of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies.
Sustainability extends far beyond propulsion. Every aspect of the BTY vessel is designed with environmental responsibility at its core — from certified wood and eco-friendly coatings to a fully integrated ecological waste management system on board.
BTY is not simply a new cruise vessel.
It is a new standard for responsible, refined and future-proof cruising — or yachting.
